Start at the boundary lot on Weakley Hollow Road and follow the Whiteoak Canyon Trail along the river. Keep right at the Cedar Run junction, cross a small stream and continue to the base of the lower falls. Return the same way.
NPS rates it the easiest grade on its scale, and dogs are welcome on a leash, which makes it a good first hike for families staying in Syria.
